Hi — to track an RTI you've already filed, there are three routes depending on the authority:

1. Central govt RTIs — log in at https://rtionline.gov.in/ using your registration number. Every status change shows there. 2. State govt RTIs — most states have their own portal. We've mapped each state's portal + PIO escalation chain at https://righttoinformation.wiki/states 3. Postal RTI — if you sent it by post, you can file a §6(3) follow-up. Template: https://righttoinformation.wiki/rti-templates

If 30 days have lapsed with no reply, that's a deemed refusal — you're entitled to file a First Appeal straight away. Use our free builder: https://righttoinformation.wiki/tools/appeal-builder.html

The full "what to do at every stage" timeline is in Chapter 6 of The RTI Playbook.

For state portals, UP and Bihar are still mostly offline — you literally have to physically check at the office. Frustrating but true. Maharashtra and Karnataka portals work well.

rtionline.gov.in tip — the status often shows 'transferred' but doesn't say to whom. In that case file a one-line follow-up with the registration number, and they email back the new PIO within 4-5 days.
