Privacy Policy
This notice applies to ask.righttoinformation.wiki, the RTI Wiki Citizen Help and Community Q&A subdomain. It explains what personal data is handled, why it is handled, and how you can exercise your rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and DPDP Rules, 2025.
Who controls this data
RTI Wiki decides the purpose and means for community questions, replies, moderation, and site security on this subdomain. Account registration and login are handled through the main RTI Wiki account system at righttoinformation.wiki.
Privacy and grievance contact: [email protected]. Please include your username, the relevant URL, and the request type. Do not email Aadhaar, PAN, bank details, passwords, or full identity documents.
Data we collect
- Community content you submit: question titles, details, tags, replies, and edits.
- Account signals needed to post: username, display name, login status, and moderator status.
- Moderation records: hidden/deleted/spam decisions, edit history, and related timestamps.
- Technical data: IP address, browser/user agent, request time, security logs, and error logs.
- Optional ads data: Google AdSense may use cookies or similar identifiers only after you allow optional ads on this subdomain.
Why we use it
- To publish your question or reply and let the community answer it.
- To prevent spam, abuse, impersonation, and unsafe disclosure of personal data.
- To operate login, moderation, security, troubleshooting, and site performance.
- To show optional advertising if you choose to allow ads.
- To comply with applicable law, lawful requests, and record-keeping needs.
Public posts and data minimisation
Community posts are public and may be indexed by search engines. Do not post personal identifiers, private addresses, phone numbers, bank details, medical records, children's details, passwords, or documents you are not authorised to share. We may redact or remove posts that expose unnecessary personal data.
Consent and choices
Posting a question or reply is a voluntary action to publish that content. Optional ads are controlled separately through the privacy choices banner. You can reopen those choices from the footer on any page.
Sharing
Public community content is visible to everyone. We use the main RTI Wiki login/posting endpoint, hosting/CDN providers, security tools, and Google AdSense where optional ads are allowed. We may disclose information when legally required or to protect users and the service from abuse.
Retention
Public questions and replies normally remain available so community answers keep their context. You may request deletion or redaction. Security logs, moderation records, and technical records are kept only as long as needed for site operation, abuse prevention, legal compliance, and dispute handling.
Your DPDP rights
You may request access to a summary of your personal data, correction, update, erasure, withdrawal of consent where applicable, grievance redressal, or nomination of another person to exercise your rights. We aim to respond within the DPDP Rules timeline of up to 90 days.
Children
This community is not designed for children to post personal data. If a user under 18 needs help, a parent or lawful guardian should post without exposing the child's unnecessary personal details.
