PIO Refusal Grievance
I filed an RTI application to the RPO, asking for the status of my passport application. The PIO refused to provide the information, citing that it is personal in nature. I want to file a grievance against the PIO. What is the procedure for filing a grievance?
Know the practical answer?
Share the record to ask for, the authority to approach, or the next appeal step.

4 repliesYou can file a grievance under §19(1) of the RTI Act 2005 to the FAA, stating the reasons for the grievance and the relief sought.
Before filing a grievance, try to contact the PIO and ask for the reasons for the refusal. They may provide you with an explanation.
The FAA may uphold the decision of the PIO, so it's better to file an appeal to the CIC.
As per the Aditya Bandopadhyay 2011 case, you have the right to file a grievance against the PIO. File a grievance and state the reasons for the grievance, and also ask for the relief sought.
