Driving Licence Stuck on Sarathi
I applied for a driving licence on the Sarathi website, but my application is stuck on the 'pending' status. I have tried contacting the RTO, but they are not responding. Can I file an RTI to know the reason for the delay?
Know the practical answer?

4 repliesYou can file an RTI application under §6(1) of the RTI Act 2005 to the RTO, asking for the reason for the delay in processing your driving licence application.
Before filing an RTI, try to check the status of your application on the Sarathi website or contact the RTO through their customer care number.
The RTO may deny the information under §8(1)(j) of the RTI Act 2005, citing that the information is personal in nature. But you can still try to file an RTI.
As per the Jayantilal Mistry 2015 case, you have the right to know the reason for the delay in processing your driving licence application. File an RTI application and ask for the reason, and also ask for the timeline for the completion of the process.
