Appeal Stage
I filed an RTI application to the RTO, asking for the status of my driving licence application. The PIO refused to provide the information, and the FAA upheld the decision. I want to file an appeal to the CIC. What is the procedure for filing an appeal?
Know the practical answer?

4 repliesYou can file an appeal under §19(3) of the RTI Act 2005 to the CIC, stating the reasons for the appeal and the relief sought.
Before filing an appeal, try to contact the FAA and ask for the reasons for the decision. They may provide you with an explanation.
The CIC may uphold the decision of the FAA, so it's better to provide strong grounds for the appeal.
As per the Girish Deshpande 2013 case, you have the right to file an appeal to the CIC. File an appeal and state the reasons for the appeal, and also ask for the relief sought.
