How long does the PIO have to reply to my RTI?

The PIO must respond within 30 days of receiving your application. Where the request concerns the life or liberty of a person, the limit drops to just 48 hours.

If the application went through an Assistant PIO, add 5 days. Once the deadline passes with no reply, the law treats it as a refusal you can appeal.
